Abbe Temkin is a Senior Philanthropic Advisor for The Chicago Community Trust, where she is responsible for a broad range of matters including legacy gifts, charitable contributions, donor advised funds, endowments and next-generation and family philanthropy. She works closely with the professional advisors to provide resources and expertise to help meet their clients’ philanthropic goals.

Before coming to the Trust in 2013, Temkin served as director of individual giving for The University of Chicago Medicine and Biological Sciences and earlier as director of development for the American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of Science. Previously, she spent many years as a non-profit consultant with CCS Fundraising, working closely with human rights and environmental organizations.

Abbe holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Western Michigan University and a JD from The John Marshall School of Law. She sits on the board of directors for CJE-Senior Life, Chicago Estate Planning Council, and the Advisory Council for Rebecca’s Dream, and is a member of the National Center for Family Philanthropy, the Chicago Council for Planned Giving, Chicago Women in Philanthropy, and the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She is a frequent speaker on topics ranging from legacy and gift planning, family succession and next-gen philanthropy, and structuring philanthropic tools.
