Listen as current NCFP Fellows Mary Mountcastle, June Wilson, and Kelly Nowlin talk with moderator Reginald Jones about their racial equity journeys. They will be joined by Performance Lecturer and Global Hip Hop “RAPtivist” Aisha Fukushima who will engage us in process of collective courage and mindfulness. The session will include moments for reflection, contemplation, and small group discussions, exploring questions such as: How can we be present, vulnerable and resilient in conversations about race and in uncomfortable spaces? What can we do to teach and understand the implications and impacts of historical and structural racism? How can we acknowledge our implicit biases and accept that we will make mistakes? What does it mean to turn the mirror on ourselves to create accountability as trustees and staff in family philanthropy? Where are the opportunities to heal (individually & collectively) and use our resources to advance racial equity?
